In 2018 I decided to try and reduce my use of plastic during Lent. I joined a Facebook group, now called Plastic-less Living, which I found both encouraging and useful.
We need to wake up to the fact that, while single use throw away plastics may be convenient, it is causing long term negative effects on our environment and our health.
Most people would agree that removing plastic from our lives altogether is not generally feasible. However by reducing our use – especially of single use plastic – and taking one step at a time, people of all ages can make a difference.
As consumers we are able to put pressure on supermarkets and suppliers to change environmentally harmful practices.
Let’s celebrate the good things that people are doing to make a difference for future generations.
